New Jersey Treasury Debarment Search
Overview and guidance for this database. Use SecureEPLS to screen quickly and confidently.
The State of New Jersey Treasury Debarment Search consolidates debarment, suspension, disqualification, denial,
and revocation actions across five Treasurer-administered categories: Medical, Professional, Vendor,
Construction, and Solid/Hazardous Waste. It is a separate list from the State Comptroller's debarment list and
is one of the mandatory monthly screens required under NJ Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services
Newsletter Vol 33 No 02 for Section 6032 compliance.
- Why it matters: Payments for items or services furnished, ordered, or managed by a debarred
provider or contractor are recoupable and may trigger civil penalties.
- What to verify: Legal business name and individual name, NPI, last known address, category
(MEDICAL/PROFESSIONAL/VENDOR/CONSTRUCTION/WASTE), action type, reason code, debarring department, and
effective/expiration dates.
- Update cadence: Refreshed by NJ Treasury as actions occur (typically weekly). Screen
before hiring or contracting and at least monthly thereafter.
- Compliance tips:
- Use alongside the State Comptroller debarment list, OIG LEIE, and SAM/EPLS for full federal+state
coverage.
- Retain dated evidence of each monthly search for the period required by your policy (commonly 7 years).
- Treat a positive match in any category as cause for immediate review — the same firm or person can be
debarred from multiple categories.
